Great museum! This museum greatly exceeded my expectations and I mean that in the best way possible. Quaint and honestly a little quirky but very inviting with very friendly employees and a nice sculpture garden outside. Highly recommended if you are in Mason City.

I didn't realize they had a room you could rent for events. It was great. All of the staff members are very helpful. It's an amazing room, and there is a whole great museum to explore also. I will definitely be using this place the next time I need to host an event.

A friend and I planned a girls' day trip and Mason City was the chosen destination. The Charles H. MacNider Museum was our first stop. What a hidden gem! The art work was amazing.: a photography competition was running with fabulous regional captured images. There were Grant Wood on display and the Dr. Chang section was filled with gorgeous pottery, sculpture and more. The Bill Baird puppets from The Sound of Music were delightful to see up close. The Museum store was filled with the work of local artisans, local history books to educate and more for purchase. I can't wait to go back again!
